Sopore, Mar 25 (KNO): Fresh repair work on the vital Sopore bypass bridge has sparked concern among locals after the executing agency allegedly used “mud mixed with snow” to fix the damaged structure.
Residents told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the bridge, which serves as a key link for commuters, has undergone multiple repairs in the past. They said earlier efforts failed to last, raising doubts over the quality of the latest work.
Locals accused the agency of ignoring basic construction standards and playing with public safety.
“This bridge is important for daily movement. Such temporary fixes put lives at risk,” Javed Bhat, a local resident said, demanding a durable solution.
Following public outcry, officials from the Roads and Buildings department visited the site and ordered an immediate halt to the ongoing work.
Locals have urged the administration to intervene and ensure proper reconstruction of the bridge, warning that repeated patchwork will not address the underlying structural issues—(KNO)
